Darlene has knocked on hundred of doors, all over the UK. With two addresses left on a paper, she still has hope to find her birth mother Jean, of whom she only has a name, written on an old envelope.

When she arrives in Edinburgh, she bonds with singer-songwriter William. Darlene's need to find her mother becomes reflective of his attempt to find closure for his own grief. Together they embark on a journey, each of them looking for redemption. Upon their quest they understand that life might not always give us what we want, but what we truly need.
